Done by Victor in Windsor, Ontario out of his house (he’s the only person in Ontario who can legally tattoo in his own home).
Well, first off, the tattoo’s quote is a reference to Marry the Night by Lady Gaga. The song is about marrying your obstacles, or loving the things that bring you down. As I have been through a lot in my life, everything from mental illnesses to abandonment to sexual abuse, I have had a hard time letting go of my past or learning to accept it as part of my journey. Everything happens for a reason, even the stuff that seems so monumentally horrible and unbearable. We go through it for a reason - to become who we are once we’re past it, to do what we have learned from it. I wanted to remind myself of that every day, so what better way than to tattoo it on my arm? On top of that, in a way I’m committing to my life with this quote as another reminder to never give up on it because one can make it through anything.
The Peacock feather has nothing to do with the song itself. Peacock feathers have several meanings, depending on which religious background you want to choose as part of your definition. They can mean anything from wisdom to prosperity to rebirth. On top of that, they are some of the most beautiful feathers out there. Since my last tattoo was plain black, I wanted this one to have some colour. I had a dream about getting a feather tattoo on my arm and saw it as an opportunity to expand my tattoo and further its originality.
Overall I adore it, and Victor is a brilliant tattoo artist. Unfortunately I do not know his last name, but he’s very honest and thoughtful, and definitely always coming up with new tattoo ideas. He’s pretty reasonable too, and he’s cleaner than a shop.
I have more images of the tattoo on my tumblr.
FYT: This is a gorgeous tattoo, suavior! I love the font, the placement of it within the feather, where it is on your arm, everything. Welcome to the Hall of Fame.
